To the Local Exemption Board,
Smithfield, N.C.

Gentlemen:-

I am in receipt of a letter from Johnston county with respect to Walter Roberson who lives at Selma, Route No. 3. My information is that he is a dangerous character, is unkind to his own people, is a menace to his neighbors, that his wife’s father is abundantly able and more than willing to take care of the wife and children. If these facts are so then he ought to be put in Class one and sent to Camp Jackson. The mere fact that a man has a wife and children is no reason for putting him in Class 4 if he is a general nuisance and his family and his absence would be considered by them a blessing rather than a curse. Of course I do not know the facts in this case, but I have received complaints about this party which make it my duty to ask you to investigate carefully and act accordingly.

Very truly yours,

[unsigned]
