Know all men by these presents that we John Davis & John Pilkinton are held & firmly bound unto Alexander Martin Esqr Governor &c. In the Sum of Five Hundred Pounds Specie to which payment will & Truly be to be made we bind ourselves our heirs Executors & Administrators Jointly & Severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals & dated this the first day of March Seventeen Hundred & Seventy Eight—

The Condition of the above obligation is Such that whereas the above bounden John Davis hath on the day and date above mentioned obtained a licence ^for a marriage^ to be celebrated between him & Morning Pilkinton, Now if there doth not hearafter appear any lawful Caus to obstruct said Marriage then the above obligation to be void; Otherwise to remain in full force & virtue—
