26th July 1754.

To carry Mr. Dobbs Govr. of North Carolina, to Virginia. In Addition to our Instructions of this Date, for your attending on the Province of Virginia; you are hereby required and directed to receive on board His Majesty's Ship under your Command Arthur Dobbs Esqr. who is appointed Governor of North Carolina, with His Family, Servants, and Baggage, and then proceed to Virginia, where you are to land them; Victualling Mr. Dobbs, Family, and Servants, as the Ships Company while they continue on board.
To carry a Packet to the Capt. of the Tryton. If you find His Majestys Ship the Tryton at Virginia, you are to deliver the enclosed Packet to her Commander, and then apply yourself to execute our abovementioned Instructions; but if she shall be gone from thence, you are not to lose a moment's Time in following her to the Port of New London, in the Province of Connecticut, and having delivered the said Packet to Capt. Whitwell, you are forthwith to return to Virginia, and put in execution our aforesaid Instructions for attending of that Province.
