Major John D. Langston,
Special Aid to the Governor,
Raleigh, North Carolina.

Dear Sir:-

I have been authentically informed that you have in your possession documentary evidence of falseification of records of the Pitt County Exemption Board by its Chairman J. J. Laughinghouse. If my information is correct, I respectfully request that you forward me all papers bearing on this subject.

You are aware that there has been several investigations of this board, and it is the desire of the Department of Justice to prosecute those who are violating any sections of the Selective Draft Regulations.

Very truly yours,

[Dorsey A. Phillips]
Agent in Charge.
