At urgent request of mayor of Winston-Salem1 through mayor of Charlotte2 dispatched per special train to Winston-Salem at midnight November seventeenth detachment of one hundred fifty enlisted men ten officers under command Major G. B. Wilcox US Guards to restore order that place. Have notified the Adjutant General of the Army. Movement to be made without expense to United States government.
