Sir,

The King having been pleased to honor me with the Chief Command of all His Forces in North America; And Mr. Secretary Pitt having signified to me that, in Consequence thereof, he had, by His Majestys Commands, wrote a Circular Letter to the several Governors of the respective Provinces and Colonies on the Continent, enjoining them to give me all the Aid & Assistance I might have Occasion for, during my Continuance in that Command; I take this early Opportunity of acquainting you with my Arrival, and that, agreable to the above Instructions, I shall be glad to correspond with you, upon every Matter that may tend to His Majesty's Service: At present I have nothing to Trouble you with, & shall only add, that I am, with great Regard, &ca
