Hickory N.C. 2-22-'14

Govenor Lock Craig,
Raleigh N.C.

Dear Sir,

I wrote you a letter a few days back1 of which I presume that you have secured ere this and parden me this once more I wish to ask of you one thing, along on the Subject spoken in my letter to His Excellency, the Govenor of North Carolina.

I wish for you to see with your own eyes, just how the inmates of the State Prison are treated, and there is one way that, that, can be accomplised to perfectionDisguise your-self, and have two Police men to take you over to the Prison passing your-self off, as an escaped convict, telling the authorities there that you wish a day or two before making known who you are and while there in this style, your eyes will behold things, that would almost make your blood run cold in your veins, and from then on you would take the lead in having the State Prison converted into a Reformatory and truly its high time that such should be done.

Yours for Prision Reform.

Edgar N. Vaughan.

Best regards to your next door neighbor B. R. Lacy, a life long friend of mine.
