W. C. MOORE, Jr.
Clerk Superior Court,
LENOIR, N.C.

August 1st. 1916.

Hon. Locke Craig,
Raleigh, N.C.

Dear Sir:

Caldwell County has appropriated $50,000 to repair the public highways of the county caused by the floods. Mr. W. C. Newland and myself were requested to take the matter up with you and State Highway Commission and see what amount, if any, we can secure to help us in repairing our roads and bridges in Caldwell County. When can you and the Commission give us a hearing.

Please wire me at my expense. Our roads are in a very bad condition. In some sections of our county our people have no way of egress of ingress, thier only way of travel is by foot. We must do something at once and are making a start.

There was great destruction of life and property in our county and we are solely in need of help.

Very truly yours,

M. N. Harshaw
