Biographical Description

Cameron Morrison was born on October 5, 1869, near Rockingham, North Carolina. Morrison served as governor from 1921 to 1925. He was a leader of the Red Shirt movement in the white supremacy campaign of 1898 to 1900, using terror and intimidation to keep Black North Carolinians away from the polls. He died in Quebec on August 20, 1953.
