Biographical Description

Thomas Alexander Tolliver was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on October 14, 1895. Tolliver was inducted into the army on July 15, 1918, a little more than a year after the United States' declaration of war on Germany. He served overseas with Company M of the 808th Pioneer Infantry from August 31, 1918 to June 22, 1919. Tolliver was honorably discharged from the service on July 3, 1919 with the rank of corporal. Following the war, Tolliver again took up residence in Winston-Salem, where he remained up through at least 1940. He died on February 22, 1984, and is interred in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
