Biographical Description

James Ernest Stokes was born on January 24, 1873, in Baltimore County, Maryland. Stokes was a physician who served on the Committee of American Physicians and guided the state's mobilization of medical resources during World War I. He died in Salisbury (Rowan County) on February 1, 1937.
