Biographical Description

Mark W. Potter was a member of the Interstate Commerce Commission from 1921 to 1925. Though an attorney in New York, Potter served as president of the Carolina, Clinchfield, and Ohio Railroad and also owned a large amount of reclaimed land in Beaufort County, North Carolina. Both facts made him a well known figure in the state's social, agricultural, and business circles.
