Biographical Description

Arthur Brown (d. 1783) was a resident of Bertie County. In 1777 he signed on to a bond of security promising that Richard Jones, a man who refused to sign the oath of allegiance to the State of North Carolina, would leave the state in 60 days. He also served as an officer in the Bertie County regiment of the North Carolina militia throughout the course of the American Revolution.
