Biographical Description
James Alfred Dalton was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on April 24, 1847. Dalton was a Civil War veteran (United States army) who worked in the Old Fort area (McDowell County) variously as a miller, a carpenter, and a farmer. He died in Old Fort on April 9, 1931.
