Henry Edward Cowan Bryant was born on January 3, 1873, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Bryant was a journalist who wrote for the Charlotte Observer, the Missoulian (Montana), the New York World (Washington, D.C.), and the Boston Herald. He died in Morganton, North Carolina on November 3, 1967.
