Biographical Description
James Averitt was born around 1822. Averitt voluntarily enlisted with North Carolina's Confederate forces in May 1861. He served with Company F of the 2nd Regiment North Carolina State Troops (Infantry) until his death from disease at Goldsboro (Wayne County) on April 3, 1862.
