David Miller Carter was born in Hyde County, North Carolina, on January 12, 1830. He was an attorney, Confederate officer, and North Carolina legislator. Carter served in the General Assembly of North Carolina during the 1862-63 session as a representative of Beaufort County. He died in Baltimore, Maryland, on January 7, 1879.
