Biographical Description

Thomas Ashley was a farmer and blacksmith who arrived in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina by 1707. In 1722 he served on a jury that heard the trial of John Cope, an American Indian man who had been charged with burglary and trespassing. Ashley died in Bertie County, North Carolina in about 1761.
