Biographical Description
John C. Rankin was born April 27, 1853, near Mount Holly in Gaston County, North Carolina. Rankin was a prominent textile mill executive, serving as President of Avon Mills in Gastonia, among others. He died on May 3, 1928, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
