Biographical Description

James M. Chadwick was born on December 3, 1865, in Pender County, North Carolina. Chadwick was a car inspector for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad who helped lead a movement to combat profiteering and overinflation in food, clothing, and housing in post-war (World War I) Wilmington. He died in Wilmington on July 28, 1921.
