Biographical Description

Daniel Webb (died 1773) was a high ranking British army officer who served as a staff officer for John Campbell, 4th Earl of Loudoun, in 1756. He is best remembered for his failure to reinforce British forces at Fort William Henry (present-day New York) in August 1757. Following a six day siege, the British surrendered the fort to the French and their Indian allies.
