William Luther Spoon was born on March 18, 1862, in Burlington, North Carolina. Spoon was the highway engineer for Forsyth County (1911-1913) and the senior highway engineer with the public roads office (1913-1920). He died in Coble (Alamance County) on August 23, 1942.
