Biographical Description
Eugene Carland was born on July 21, 1873, in Henderson County, North Carolina. Carland was a real estate investor in Asheville. During World War I, he managed his brother-in-law's—Capt. R. P. Johnston's—Haywood County apple orchard while Johnston was serving overseas. Carland died in Asheville (Buncombe County) on July 27, 1873.
