William Bull II was born in St. Andrews Parish in South Carolina on September 24, 1710. Bull served as lieutenant governor of South Carolina from 1759 to 1775. His loyalty to the crown during the American Revolution resulted in the end of his political career and his eventual banishment from the state. He died in London on July 4, 1791.
