Jarvis Johnson Bain was born in Martinsville, Indiana, on May 2, 1880. Bain was a career officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. He served as District Engineer for the district at Nashville, Tennessee, from July 22, 1916 to until September 26, 1916. Bain died in Washington, D.C., on October 20, 1960.
