Biographical Description

Robin Jacobs was an elderly African American an who resided near Leasburg in Caswell County.  On May 13, 1870, while near the home of Samuel Allen, another local African American man who had been a target of the Ku Klux Klan, Jacobs was shot and killed by Klan members. His murder in part led Governor William W. Holden to declare martial law in an attempt to stop Klan activity. No one was ever tried for Jacobs' murder.
