Justin Harlan was born in Warren County, Ohio on December 6, 1800. A resident of Clark County, Illinois, he worked as a lawyer and local judge. From 1862 to 1865 he served as an indian agent at the behest of his friend, President Abraham Lincoln. He died in Lyon County, Kentucky on March 12, 1879.
