Be it remembered that at a Superior Court began and held for the County and State aforesaid at the Court House in Oxford on the tenth Monday after the second Monday in February AD 1873 before Honorable J. M. Albertson Judge. Amongst other orders Judgments and decrees the following record appears in the matter of the State against Sci Moss and Sam Lyon. Indicted and returned into Court by the Grand Jury for Larceny.

And whereupon the Sheriff of said County is commanded to cause the said Sci Moss and Sam Lyon to come and answer the said charge at the present term of said Court.

And the said Sci Moss and the said Sam Lyon in their own proper person come and having heard the said indictment read each for himself saith that he is not Guilty thereof.

And of this they put themselves upon the Country, and Genl W. R. Case, solicitor who prosecutes for the State in this behalf doth the like.

And thereupon the following Jurors,

Rufus Coghill, Hill Crudup, Woodson Reavis, Bery Burwell, Carrell Crews, Major Loftes, Robert N Frazer, Thos. L. Bobbitt, Harvey Harris, John C. Hester, A. A. H. Williams, Henry Robards, being chosen tried and sworn to speak the truth of and concerning the premises in the said indictment specified upon their oath say that the said Sci Moss and the said Sam Lyon are both Guilty.

Thereof in manner and form as charged in the said bill of indictment.

It is thereupon considered by the Court that the said Sci Moss be confined to hard labour in the States prison for the term of ten years. And that the said Sam Lyon be confined to hard labour in the said States prison for the term of five (5) years, and that the said Sci Moss and the said Sam Lyon be confined in the common Jail of this County until demanded by the Governor of the State, or the Superintendent of the State prison.

I Calvin Betts, Clerk of the Superior Court of the County and State aforesaid do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the record of the verdict & Judgment of said Court in the Indictment wherein the State is plaintiff and Sci Moss and Sam Lyon are defendants.
