WOMAN'S COMMITTEE OF
COUNCIL OF NATIONAL DEFENSE
NORTH CAROLINA DIVISION

Charlotte, N.C. July 16, 1918

His Excellency,
Thomas W. Bickett,
Governor of North Carolina
Executive Mansion,
Raleigh, N.C.

My dear Sir:

At the request of Dr. D. H. Hill, Chairman of the State Council of Defense, I am enclosing the first annual report of the Woman’s Committee presented at our recent conference in Greensboro July 11th and 12th.

We sincerely trust that you will feel that our organization has accomplished much patriotic work and reflects credit to our State. We all realize that a report never can carry all the details or adequately express the great work which has been accomplished - many facts are necessarily omitted.

May I take this opportunity to again thank you for the commission received from you to serve as the the representative of of the Woman’s Committee on the State Council of Defense. It has been a great privilege to serve the State on this patriotic commission.

Very truly yours,

Laura Holmes Reilley
Chairman
