To his Excellency Arthur Dobbs Esqr. Captain General, Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the said Province

The Humble Petition of Joseph Hewes in behalf of the Town of Edenton humbly sheweth

That it wou'd be of great service to the inhabitants of the said Town that the same shou'd be incorporated by Charter

Your Petitioner therefore in behalf of the said Town prays that your Excellency will Order Letters of incorporation to be made out for the said Town

and your petitioner shall pray &c
