The Dispatch which I inclose to you Came to me by Express from Govr. Fauquier along with my dispatches with directions to forward your Excellency's I have promised the Bearer who goes Express that you will pay him five Pistoles I came here this morning to meet the Council to Call the Assembly upon the Shortest notice by Proclamation; the first Letter of the 9th of Decembr. you must have had by the Same Conveyance, but this last dispatch of the 29th of Decembr. from Mr Pitt with the Duplicate came to virginia in the Leastaff man of war Express with orders to the Commander in Chief and to all the Governrs. I will endeavour all I can to get what can be possibly raised in time from our Assembly who cant meet till the first Week in May and if they make any push to the westward against Mobile and Mississippi we may be in time to join yrs. for a late Campaign; but could be in no time for a Northern Campaignbe So good as to let me Know what your assembly does who can assemble Sooner than oursall the news from verginia by the frigate is the taking and garisoning goree by Mr Keppel and the Loss of the Litchfield and a Transport near Cape Carter in Barbary, and their returning with Mr Worge and his Troops to Senegal the duke de acicero and many other noblemen &c are put to death in Portugal for the Plot to destroy the King and transform the Government.
