Biographical Description

George Walton was born around 1740. A resident of Perquimans County, North Carolina, he was also a Quaker. Walton was appointed to present and defend a 1777 petition from the Perquimans County Quakers to the North Carolina General Assembly regarding the requirement for state citizens to swear an oath of allegiance and fight in the American Revolution. Walton died around 1817.
