Caleb White was born in Perquimans County, North Carolina on March 8, 1740. A Quaker, he was one of the four representatives appointed to present and defend a 1779 petition from the Perquimans County Quakers to the North Carolina General Assembly concerning the requirement for all citizens of the state to swear an oath of allegiance. He died in Perquimans on February 26, 1795.
