William Drake was born around 1755. He served as private in the Chatham County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia during the American Revolution and fought at the Battle of Lindley's Mill. Drake applied for a veteran's pension in 1833, which was accepted. He died in Chatham in about May 1837.
