Thomas Riddle was born in Caroline County, Virginia in 1756. Later a resident of Chatham County, North Carolina, he served as private in the local regiment of the North Carolina Militia during the American Revolution and fought at the Battle of Lindley's Mill. Riddle died in Chatham on December 17, 1821.
