Samuel Holaday was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania on December 9, 1746. A Quaker, he became a resident of Orange County, North Carolina by 1755. During the American Revolution, Holaday was a noncombatant due to his religious convictions. He died in Alamance County, North Carolina on June 20, 1825.
