Biographical Description

James Stanislaus Easby-Smith was born on May 17, 1870, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Easby-Smith was an attorney who served as a legal advisor to Provost Marshal General Enoch H. Crowder during World War I. He aided in the revisal of the classification system for the draft. Easby-Smith died in Virginia on September 26, 1948.
