Biographical Description

William Legge (1731-1801), 2nd Earl of Dartmouth, served as president of the Board of Trade from 1765 to 1766 and from 1772 to 1775. He concurrently held the office of secretary of state for the colonies during his second stint as president of the Board of Trade.
