Biographical Description

Peter Dauge (1739-1801) served as a Lt. Colonel and later Colonel in the North Carolina Militia. Originally based in Pasquotank, he also later commanded the Camden County Regiment as well. When the Gourd Patch Conspiracy was uncovered in July 1777, lawyer Robert Smith expressed his hopes that Colonel Dauge would bring a force from NE North Carolina over to Edenton to help prevent further unrest.
