Doll, an African American woman residing in Chowan County, North Carolina, was enslaved by Frederick Jones. Doll, as well as several other individuals enslaved by Jones, were familiar with the enslaved people that lived across the river on Nicholas Crisp's plantation. One night in early 1720, Doll saw Cush and Sambo leave Crisp's plantation headed for Paul Palmer's property in Perquimans Precinct. In April 1720, after Sambo was arrested, Doll made a deposition before Frederick Jones about her knowledge of Sambo's escape. Jones died in 1722 but did not mention any enslaved people by name in his will. Any further records regarding this individual have not been located.
