Montfort Eelbeck was born sometime prior to 1734. A justice of the peace for Halifax County from 1754 through to his death, Eelbeck also served as the Halifax County sheriff from 1770 to 1772. In 1776 Eelbeck questioned Rose, an enslaved woman charged with arson. Eelbeck died in Halifax in 1790.
