Thomas Bryan arrived in Bladen County, North Carolina by 1739. Settling on the Brown Marsh Swamp, Bryan amassed several hundred acres of land and served on the local freeholders court, which heard cases involving enslaved individuals. He died in Bladen by May 1767.
