Biographical Description

Lovelace Brown Capehart was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on April 24, 1895. Capehart attended officer candidate school at Fort Des Moines in Iowa and upon graduation was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He went on to serve with the 365th and the 370th Infantry Regiments during World War I. He saw overseas service from June 10, 1918 to February 24, 1919 and was honorably discharged from the service on March 14, 1919. In the postwar years, Capehart graduated from Columbia University with a medical doctorate. He died on December 26, 1955 in Manhattan, New York City.
