Luther Augustus Fink was born on April 13, 1879, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Fink served in the military during the Spanish American War and again in the Philippine Islands in 1903. Following the country's entrance into World War I, Fink enlisted again on April 16, 1917, and served with the 105th Engineers until he was medically discharged on September 14, 1918. He died in Sanford, North Carolina on July 5, 1932.
