Biographical Description

Adolphus Washington Moser was born on March 25, 1882, in Alamance County, North Carolina. Moser was a farmer, trader, and civil servant. He was working as Graham's jailer and chief of police when in July 1920 a mob attempted to break the jail and lynch three Black men wrongfully accused of sexual assault. Moser died in Graham on July 9, 1948.
