LEAGUE TO ENFORCE PEACE
WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT
President

May 24, 1918.

Hon. Thomas W. Bickett,
Raleigh, North Carolina.

My dear Governor Bickett:

Here is a stenotype transcript of your address at the governors’ conference in Independence Hall on May 17th in connection with the Convention of the League to Enforce Peace. I am sending this to the leading papers in your state for I know they will wish to use it.

Before this address is printed, however, in the published proceedings of the Convention, you may wish to make some slight corrections or changes. If there are any such, will you kindly indicate them so that I may get the copy to the printer at an early date.

I am having photographic copies made of the Declaration signed by you and the ten other governors in Independence Hall and as soon as they are ready, I shall take pleasure in sending you one.

I hope that you derived as much pleasure and benefit from your attendance at the Convention as we received from having you there.

Sincerely yours,

Allan P. Ames
Secretary,
Governors’ Conference.
