Tyrrel County

July 17th. 1777}

John Harrison came before us assigned to keep the Peace for this County & being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty ^God^ deposeth & Saith that about three weeks agoe he was at a Reading at Nathaniel Everets he there met with John Everet who took him on one side and asked him if he would swear to keep a Secret, this Deponent agreed to take it, & Everet swore him. Everet then told him he must go to Daniel Legate with a three notched Stick. This Deponent then went to Daniel Legate who was at a smal distance from where he was, & then Legate swore him to the Constitution & further this deponent saith not
