Why not, like the Governors of Missouri and Kansas, call upon all able bodied men in N.C. to give two days gratuitous labor with teams to the public roads in their respective counties, and all professional and business men who could not reasonably respond to such a call, add to the Township or County road fund a cash contribution equal to those who contribute labor. In those states referred to, millions of dollars were added to the roads in way of improvements, and I believe such a movement in N.C. would add incalculable value to the roads of the state and arouse interest where interest has not been awakened, and double the interest where it is already aroused.
