Sams, John Robert

Biographical Description

John Robert Sams was born in Union County, Tennessee, on July 15, 1848. Sams was a prominent farmer in Mars Hill (Madison County) who served as a member of the Madison County Board of Education, as farm agent for Polk and Madison counties, and as president of Mars Hill College. He died in Madison County on April 10, 1937.
