I received your letter containing suggestions relative to the Claim of Mrs. Susannah Alexander, for which I am very much obliged to you. And in pursuance thereof I have succeeded in procuring the affidavits of three respectable old citizens of our county, living in the immediate neighbourhood of Mrs. Alexander, Accompanied by a certificate from my Father. All of which I have taken the liberty to enclose to you.
I fear the Com. of Pensions has not examined his files very closely, otherwise he would have found a second Declaration by Mrs. S. Alexander with the certificates of James W Osborne, and ^an^ old man in Cleveland County by the name of Allison, identifying John Alexander as the husband of Susannah Alexander, also proving that John Alexander was in the Revolutionary War—Also a certificate from the Comptroller of the State, and one from the Secretary of State proving nine months service in the continental line—These papers I directed to the Com. of Pen. only a few weeks since—And I hope you will do me the kindness to request the Commissioner to examine his office for them.
